QUAKER CITY — Mary C. Brownfield, 90, of Quaker City, died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Barnesville Health Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City.

QUAKER CITY — Virginia E. Wehr, 80, of Quaker City, died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at East Ohio Regional Medical Center in Martins Ferry.

She was born April 6, 1921 in Batesville, daughter of the late Wiley and Mae Shepherd Neuhart.

She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She graduated in 1938 from Batesville High School and was a member of the Batesville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 578.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John I. Wehr, in January 1986. They were married Feb. 21, 1942. A grandson, Todd Wehr, also preceded her in death.

She leaves three sons, John Paul (Arlene) Wehr, Robert (Susan) Wehr and Jeffrey (Mary) Wehr, all of Quaker City; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Carolyn) Stroup of Kona, Hawaii; two sisters, Bonnie Flood of Zanesville and Mrs. Jack (Louise) Krause of Manitowac, Wis.; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, where services will be 11 a.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Batesville Cemetery.

WOODSFIELD — Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, for Grace V. Briggs, 90, of Woodsfield, who died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield.

The Rev. William Graham will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

Friends may call 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born March 3, 1911, near Lewisville, daughter of the late Clyde Wesley and Rena Mae Denbow Morris.

She was a retired waitress and homemaker, and a Protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharlene Briggs; a son, Buddy Briggs; a brother, Clarence Morris; and an infant brother.

Ms. Briggs leaves a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Linda) Kurtz of Newark; four sons, Roger L. (Betty) Briggs of Norfolk, Va., Larry W. (Gail Ann) Briggs of Graysville, Bob (Candy) Briggs of Summerfield, and Ronnie (Mae) Briggs of Oak Harbor; two step-daughters, Drema Briggs of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Sheila Tackett of London, Ohio; a sister, Ann Lower of Castle Berry, Fla.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

A very close friend, Jim Mitchell of Belmont County, also survives.

CALDWELL — Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, for Frank J. Triplett, 74, of Caldwell, who died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

Pastor Loran Dave and Pastor Jim Garrett will officiate.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Easter Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Caldwell VFW Post 4721 and Belle Valley American Legion Post 641 will conduct military graveside services.

He was born April 12, 1926, in Caldwell, son of the late Franklin D. and Mary V. Corns Triplett.

He attended Caldwell High School and was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater of Operations including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell and was a life member of Caldwell VFW Post 4721. He was a retired foreman for the Ohio Department of Transportation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Triplett; five brothers, Glenn, Gilbert, Kenneth, Wayne and Ralph Triplett; and four sisters, Gertrude Pieatt, Betty Satonik, and Mary and Lucille Triplett.

He leaves his wife, Marlene, whom he married April 1, 1950; a sister, Mildred Spurrier of Cleveland; three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Linda) Mackie of Pinellasport, Fla., Mrs. Tom (Frances) Sorg of Sarahsville, and Mrs. Brad (Brenda) Estadt of Maysville; four sons, Jeff (Ellen), Frank Russell (Judy), Gerald and Brian (Tina) Triplett, all of Caldwell; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nyah Biance´ Whitney, infant, died Tuesday (April 10, 2001) at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

She was born April 10, 2001, in Columbus, daughter of John T. Whitney and Desiree Gomez, both of Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

In addition to her parents, she leaves her maternal grandparents, William and Nizda Hill of Cambridge; paternal grandparents, Branda Mitchell of Cambridge and John Whitney of Byesville; five aunts; several cousins.

Private services for members of the immediate family will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Scott Funeral Home. Thew Rev. Father Robert Borer will officiate.
