Mary D. Gravens, 66, of Cambridge, died Monday, (April 23, 2001) at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Scott Funeral Home, Cambridge.

WOODSFIELD — Mary A. Hartwell, 65, of Beallsville, formerly of Akron, died Saturday (April 21, 2001) at Barnesville Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1935, in Bellepoint, W.Va., daughter of Dorse R. and Eloise (Turner) Richardson of Bellepoint, W.Va.

She leaves her husband, Silas Hartwell of Beallsville; two sons, Randy Hartwell of Quincy, Mich., and Rodney Hartwell of Akron; two daughters, Tammy Huffman of Akron, and Terry Wilmes of Mankato, Minn.; four brothers, Neelas Richardson and Douglas Richardson, both of Ohio, Jerry Richardson and Michael Richardson, both of West Virginia; three sisters, Christine Bobbs, Novella Cook and Nadine Taylor, all of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

DENNISON — Ruth I. Helter, 82, of Colonial Manor, New Philadelphia, died Monday (April 23, 2001) at Union Hospital, Dover, following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Dennison, daughter of the late H. Foster and Faye (Mears) Long.

Mrs. Helter was a 1936 graduate of Dennison High School and attended Canton Actual Business College.

She was a life resident of the area, having lived in Tippecanoe for many years before moving to Colonial Manor.

She was a member of West Union United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed stamp collecting and postcards. She loved gardening in her flower beds, watching and feeding the birds that came to her gardens. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano.

Mrs. Helter devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Francis Helter, on Aug. 22, 1971. They were married Jan. 1, 1942. Also deceased is a son, Thomas Russell Helter; and a sister, Myra Cahaney.

She leaves a son, James Leslie (Kathy) Helter of Tippecanoe; two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Diane F.) Arnold of Tippecanoe, and Denise R. Phillips of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie Long of Dennison; a sister, Betty Hauck of Uhrichsville; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Dennison, where services will be 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Harry Milligan officiating.

Burial will be in West Union Cemetery, Gilmore.

Mary Wilson, 96, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday (April 21, 2001) at Sunbridge Thunderbird Health Care in Phoenix.

She was born Aug. 29, 1903, in Wheeling, W.Va.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Cambridge.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Wilson, in 1981; a son, Ronald Donald Wilson; two sisters, Rose and Anna; two brothers, Carl Blessing and John Blessing.

She leaves a son, Donald Ronald (Nettie) Wilson of California; a daughter-in-law, Felicity Joan Wilson of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Lisa Ann Wilson and Felicity Joan Ancell, both of Cambridge, and Darlene Nusom of California; six great-grandchildren, Robert Nusom, Christopher Nusom, Anthony Nusom, Christine Nusom, Morgan Renee Ancell and Madyson Elizabeth Ancell; a great-great-grandchild, Nikolaus Nusom.

No calling hours will be observed.

Graveside services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Pa., with the Rev. Aaron Long officiating.
