PARIS, Ill. — Paul Charles Clover, 84, of Paris, Ill., died Wednesday (April 25, 2001) at his home.

He was born March 19, 1917, in Vermilion, son of the late Howard and Nora (Ford) Clover.

Mr. Clover was a retired building contractor.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 268 F &AM, Scottish Rite of Danville, Ansar Shrine, Edgar Co. Shrine Club, American Legion Post 211.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served in World War II.

He leaves his wife, Isabelle Charley Clover, whom he married Aug. 6, 1937; a son, David Clover of Cambridge, Ohio; a daughter, Paula Furry of Paris; three sisters, Ruth Coburn of Alamogordo, N.M., Lucille McDonald of Evansville, Ind., and Helen Alhemeyer of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Sutton and Son Funeral Home, Paris, where services will follow at 1 p.m. Brother Karl Marshall will officiate. Masonic services will be 11 a.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601.

CUMBERLAND — Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tom and Farus Funeral Home, Cumberland, for Loren Kenneth Dodrill Jr., 47, of Cumberland, who died Wednesday (April 25, 2001) at Cleveland Clinic.

The Rev. Chip Steele will officiate. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born July 14, 1953, in Lincoln County, son of Margaret (Mitchell) Dodrill of Hebron, and the late Loren Dodrill Sr.

Mr. Dodrill was an avid hunter.

He leaves his wife, Gloria (Maust) Dodrill, whom he married July 7, 1982; two sons, Lee Dodrill of the home, and Joey Dodrill of Oklahoma; two daughters, Kelly Dodrill of the home, and Ardella Cloush of Newark; two sisters, Patty Welsh and Mrs. Kenny (Ann) Howard; two grandchildren, Clinton and Ashley Cloush; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Austin Carl Berry of Newcomerstown, died Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City, Okla.

BETHESDA — Charles L. Simonson, 83, of Soldiers, Sailors and Airman Retirement Home, Washington, D.C., formerly of Belmont, died Saturday (April 21, 2001) at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D.C.

He was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Mt. Iron, Minn., son of the late Bert and Esther (Hoeffs) Simonson.

Mr. Simonson was a 1935 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

He was a career U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II and Vietnam. He also served in the Strategic Air Command and was a radar instructor.

After his military career he worked for the Hanna Coal Co. and later the Consolidated Coal Co. of Cadiz, where he retired after many years of service.

He was a member of Belmont American Legion Post 312, and a former member of the Lutheran Church in Bridgeport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Hatcher) Simonson, in 1992; a brother, Morris B. Simonson; his step-mother, Adeline Duskey Simonson; a step-sister, Evelyn Davis; and a niece, Natalie Smith Russell.

He leaves a brother, Vernon Simonson of Cadiz; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Olive) Smith of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. James (Judith) Browning of Holland, and Mrs. M.C. (Camilla) Mussman of Radnor; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda. Full military graveside services will be conducted by Belmont County Council VFW.

Ronald “Chico” D. Chester, 51, of Old Washington, died Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born April 2, 1950, in Cambridge, son of Norma J. (Heskett) Chester of Wellington, and the late Roger Chester Jr.

Mr. Chester was an employee of Shield Alloy of Cambridge. He was a Methodist by faith.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served in Vietnam.

He was a life member of VFW Post 2901 and a member of United Steel Workers 483601.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Dorothy L. Harper.

He leaves his wife, Donna G. (Harper) Chester of Old Washington, whom he married March 6, 1971; two sons, Bradley D. (Patricia) Chester of Old Washington, and Jeremy D. Chester of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Doug (Pam) Foreman of Wellington; two brothers, Richard “Dick” (Dee) Chester and Tom (Robin) Chester, both of Wellington; two step-grandchildren, Shawn Markel and Lisa Markel; a step-great-grandson, Ethan Vincent; his father-in-law, John R. Harper of Old Washington; a brother-in-law, Brian (Pam) Harper of Cambridge; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends and neighbors.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Beth Stillwagon officiating.

Burial will be in Old Washington Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Guernsey County Veterans Council.
