CALDWELL — Services will be noon Wednesday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, for B. Warne Oliver, 79, of Caldwell, who died Sunday (April 1, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

The Rev. Father Dale Tornes will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Belle Valley. Military graveside services will be conducted by Caldwell VFW Post 4721 and Belle Valley American Legion 641.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Mt. Ephraim, son of the late Jack and Sylvia (Springer) Oliver.

Mr. Oliver retired from the former Gould Co. of Caldwell. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of the Flying Tigers, having served in China, Burma and the Indian Theater.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Oliver.

He leaves his wife, Inez L. (Kochalko) Oliver, whom he married Nov. 10, 1946; two sons, Steven D. (Rose) Oliver of Zanesville, and Gary J. (Pam) Oliver of Caldwell; a sister, Eileen Koval of Caldwell; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans Association or the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

BARNESVILLE — Services will be 11 a.m. today at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, for Edith Maxine (Whitacre) Moffett, 76, of Barnesville, who died Sunday (April 1, 2001) at Wheeling (W.Va. ) Park Hospital.

Robert Huntsman will officiate. Burial will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry.

Calling hours were Monday evening at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Barnesville, daughter of the late Lloyd and Alice (Foughty) Whitacre.

She was preceded in death by four husbands, James Wheeler, Bill Scott, Bill Clary and William Moffett; three brothers, Nelson, Ronald and Hobart Whitacre; two sisters, Dorothy Huntsman and Doris Ruth Repik.

She leaves a brother, Richard Whitacre, and a sister, Naomi (Whitacre) Kembroe, both of California; several nieces and nephews.

CALDWELL — Clara R. Mallett, 93, a resident of Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Carlisle, Caldwell and Byesville, died Monday (April 2, 2001).

She was born Dec. 17, 1907, in Carlisle, daughter of the late John and Eva (Warner) Schehl.

Mrs. Mallett was a homemaker, and along with her late husband, owned and operated a beef cattle farm near Carlisle for many years.

She was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Carlisle, and a current member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell, where she also belonged to the Catholic Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mallett, on June 5, 1999; several brothers and sisters.

She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Alice) Orr of Byesville, Mrs. Art (Pat) Sales of Cambridge, Mrs. Victor (Janis) Moreno of Yardley, Pa., and Mrs. David (Lynne) Jennings of Huffman, Texas; two sons, Merle (Doris) Mallett of Columbus, and Bill (Jean) Mallett of Lebanon; a brother, Earl Schehl of Caldwell; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Caldwell, with the Rev. Father Dale Tornes officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Stafford.

NEWCOMERSTOWN — David A. Raach, 59, of Kimbolton, died Sunday (April 1, 2001) at his home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1941, in Newcomerstown, son of the late Walter Arthur and Elanor R. (Connors) Raach.

Mr. Raach was a 1959 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

He retired from Wickes Lumber Co.

He was a member of Newcomerstown Church of the Nazarene and Newcomerstown Elks Lodge 1555.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Bourne) Raach, on Oct. 3, 1999; a son, David Raach Jr.; and a brother, Bob Raach.

He leaves four sons, Joe (Shelli) Raach of Kimbolton, Robert Raach of Alexandria, Va., Randy Raach of Kimbolton, and Mike Lehman of Woodbridge, Va.; a daughter, Melissa Stewart of Newcomerstown; nine grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Lela) Raach of Newcomerstown; and a sister, Edna Shivers of Newcomerstown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Don Gainer officiating.

Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Military graveside services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Organization.

CADIZ — John D. Lallathin, 72, of Rural Retreat, Va., formerly of Jewett, died Monday (April 2, 2001) at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz.

Jerry R. Horton, 62, of Cambridge, died Monday (April 2, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Cambridge, son of the Beatrice (Saltz) Horton of Cambridge, and late Fred Horton.

Mr. Horton was a retired security guard. He owned and operated a TV repair shop from his home for many years.

He was a member of Old Cambridge Baptist Church.

He leaves his wife, Garnet (Duff) Horton of Cambridge, whom he married Aug. 1, 1959; two daughters, Judy Hood of Columbus, and Mrs. Tom (Karen) Moore of Cambridge; a brother, Fred (Marsha) Horton of Cambridge; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Old Cambridge Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Finley and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating.
