Ellabelle Heady, 72, of Derwent, died Monday (April 2, 2001) at Cleveland Clinic.

She was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Derwent, daughter of the late Evan David and Ruth (Call) Hively.

Mrs. Heady was a former employee of the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital, having worked in the medical records department for many years.

She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 227, Pleasant City, and was a Protestant by faith.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Deloris Hively; three brothers, Thomas Call Hively, Herbert Lee Hively and David Dale Hively.

She leaves her husband, Lewis H. Heady, whom she married Nov. 15, 1947; two daughters, Mrs. Dana (Beth Ann) Cleland of Kadi, Texas, and Mrs. Richard (Mary Lynn) Brace of Sugarland, Texas; a son, Lewis (Barbara Ann) Heady of Pleasant City; two sisters-in-law, Sherry Hively of Cambridge, and Glory Gay Upstain of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Dean Hively of Pleasant City; her aunt, Ina Mae Betts of Fairbourne; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Raymond Grudier officiating.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery.

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Mary W. Marlatt, 84, of Newcomerstown, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown.

She was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Toledo, daughter of the late Daniel A. and Rebecca (Hartsock) Overholt.

Mrs. Marlatt was raised in Fresno and graduated from Coshocton City Hospital Nursing School. She had worked at Coshocton County Health Department as a registered nurse.

She had been a member of Red Cross Nursing Association since 1940. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newcomerstown.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ramson Overholt and Richard Overholt; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth VanSickel.

She leaves her husband, Arden J. Marlatt, whom she married Feb. 24, 1945; a daughter, Martha Rae Marlatt of Upper Arlington; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Fraser officiating.

Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown.

MARS, Pa. — John Panchalk, 81, of Franklin Park, Pa., formerly of Pittsburgh, died Monday (April 2, 2001) at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCandless Township, Pa.

He was born April 12, 1919, in Pleasant City, Ohio, son of the late John and Mary (Sosnak) Panchak.

Mr. Panchalk was a retired City of Pittsburgh Police K-9 officer. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 1.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 2901 and Guernsey County Chapter of DAV, both in Cambridge, Ohio, and American Legion Post 0080 in Pittsburgh.

He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, Gibsonia, and Croation Catholic Lodge No. 9, Pittsburgh.

He leaves his wife, Genevieve (Sever) Panchalk, whom he married Oct. 3, 1942; a son, John G. Panchalk of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Panchak of Pleasant City, Ann Vitzen of Elyria, Ohio, Helen Eckert and Sue Basalla, both of Parma, Ohio, and Agnes Eston of Akron, Ohio; four brothers, Michael Panchak of Michigan, Joseph Panchak of Elyria, and George Panchak and Pete Panchak, both of Pleasant City.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald-Aerberli Funeral Home, Mars, Pa.

Funeral mass will be 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 235 Logan Road, Gibsonia, Pa.

Burial will be in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church Cemetery, Pleasant City.

WOODSFIELD — Wanda Russell, 68, a resident of Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Barnesville Hospital.

CALDWELL — Mary A. (Cornett) Saling Scott, 72, of Newark, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Licking Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 20, 1929, daughter of the late Harry and Rose Cornett.

Mrs. Scott was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Felix Saling, on May 15, 1961. They were married June 26, 1948. Also deceased is a brother, Paul Cornett.

She leaves her husband, Walter Scott Jr.; two daughters, Rosemarie Scott and Diana Scott-Hoover; four sons, Larry (Cindy) Saling, Donald (Kay) Saling, Paul (Rhonda) Saling and Walter Charles (Roberta) Scott; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, all of Newark; five brothers, Clarence Cornett of Vandalia, Delbert Cornett, Ed Cornett and Carl Cornett, all of Zanesville, and Norman Cornett of St. Clairsville.

CADIZ — Services and burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, for John D. Lallathin, 72, of Rural Retreat, Va., formerly of Jewett, who died Monday (April 2, 2001) at his home.

He was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Barnesville, son of the late Clifford and Faye (Conard) Lallathin Duve.

Mr. Lallathin retired from GTE in Cadiz, where he served as a switch worker. He was a former member of Hopedale American Legion.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian R. Lallathin, in 1996; his step-father, Victor Duve.

He leaves two sons, David Lallathin of Rural Retreat, Va., and Dan Lallathin of Columbus; three daughters, Jane Seal of Uhrichsville, and Susan Rose and Sandra Haller, both of Bellaire; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Duve of Houston, Texas.
