Dr. Robert Watson Dougherty
NEWCOMERSTOWN — Dr. Robert Watson Dougherty, 97, a resident of the Rolling Green Village, Nevada, Iowa, a long time resident of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Newcomerstown, died Saturday (March 31, 2001) at Rolling Green Village.
He was born Feb. 5, 1904, in Newcomerstown, son of the late Robert Watson and Amie Dougherty.
Dr. Dougherty was a 1922 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree; from Oregon State University with an M.S. degree and received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from The Ohio State University.
He was chairman of the physiology laboratory of the National Animal Disease Center, Iowa State University, for many years before his retirement in 1974. During his academic career, he also resided in Pullman, Wash., Corvallis, Ore., and Ithaca, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with Veterinary Corps during World War II. He was a member of American Veterinary Medical Assoc., the American Physiology Society, and World Assoc. of Veterinary Physiologists, Pharmacologists and Biochemists.
He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eileen McKinley Dougherty, who died Sept. 16, 1997. They were married Jan. 1, 1938.
He leaves a son, Michael (Rita) Dougherty of Cambridge, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. James (Susan) Williams of Marshville, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth Dougherty Watson) Kaiser of Medina, formerly of Newcomerstown; three granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be Saturday at West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown, with the Rev. Donald Silverthorne officiating.

BYESVILLE — Mary Klobucar, 85, of Cambridge, died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at the Cardinal House, Cambridge.

L. Garrett Kerr
L. Garrett Kerr, 78, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Grant Hospital, Columbus.
He was born May 26, 1922, in Guernsey County, son
of the late Paul and Dora E. (Hayes) Kerr.
Mr. Kerr was owner and operator of Garrett’s Studio of
Hairstyling for 42 years. He was a member of Faith United Methodist, Cambridge.
He was a graduate of Old Washington High School and was a longtime hospital volunteer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was present at the attack on Pearl Harbor.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie King; a grandson, Matthew Breece; and a daughter-in-law, Martha Ann (Durben) Kerr.
He leaves his wife, Lena (Wilson) Kerr of the home, whom he married June 30, 1945; three sons, Gary (Anne E.) Kerr of Salesville, Phillip (Kathleen E.) Kerr of Dover and Monty (Louanne) Kerr of Cambridge; a cousin, Darrell Powell of Canton; eight grandchildren, John Thomas Kerr, Mark S. Breece, Heather K. Stillwell, Heidi R. Kerr, K. Hayley Kerr, Stephanie L. Bango, R. Stephen Kerr, Ryan G. Kerr; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Mick Foster officiating.
Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
Wanda Russell
WOODSFIELD — Wanda Russell, 68, a resident of Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Barnesville Hospital.

Beulah E. Hall
Beulah E. Hall, 95, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) in Cambridge.
She was born Nov. 12, 1905, in Claysville, daughter of the late Howard and Rachel (Hendershot) Shuster.
Mrs. Hall and her late husband, Wilbert, owned and operated Hall’s Plants and Garden in Cambridge.
She had worked at J.C. Penney as a sales clerk. She retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, having served as a psychiatric aide.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cambridge, where she was a member of a Sunday school class.
She was a member of Business and Professional Girls and a Hospital Wing volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Hall; a sister, Edna Mae (Robert) Potts; her beloved niece, Iola Somers Byrne.
She leaves a niece, Mrs. Randell (Teresa “Terri” Potts) Scott of Cambridge; a nephew, Joseph Byrne of Columbus; a cousin, Mrs. Virginia Lee Collins of Cumberland; five great-nieces, Rita Bauer, Patricia Geoghegan and Elizabeth Lynch, all of Columbus, Cathyrne Byrne-Sichel of Blacklick and Jo Ann Schilling of Pataskala; two great-nephews, Jason and John Scott of Cambridge; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Terry Litton officiating.
Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
Wanda M. Russell
WOODSFIELD — Wanda M. Russell, 68, of Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Barnesville Hospital.
She was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Zanesville, daughter of the late Clifford and Edna Allen.
Mrs. Russell was a homemaker and member of New Life Church in Woodsfield.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Richard Allen; and her former husband, Albert O. “Bud” Russell.
She leaves two sons, Clifford Russell of Columbus, and Clarence “Ben” Russell of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Bertha Russell of West Virginia, and Pamela Thomas of Virginia; a brother, Lewis Allen of Zanesville; three sisters, Gertrude Allen, Norma Grandstaff and Rosalie Dennis all of Zanesville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with services to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Teafatiller officiating.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

Myrtle Watson, 85, of Kimbolton, died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.

CADIZ — Mabel Richards, 64, of Cadiz, died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville.

Kermit L. Henthorn
WOODSFIELD — Kermit L. Henthorn, 52, of Woodsfield, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born March 9, 1949, in Monroe County, son of Margaret (Craig) Henthorn of Woodsfield and the late Carl Henthorn.
Mr. Henthorn was owner and operator of Henthorn Lanes of Woodsfield. He was a member of Eagles Lodge and a social member of Woodsfield VFW.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Henthorn, who died in 1990.
He leaves his wife, Janet (Bell) Henthorn of Woodsfield; three daughters, Mrs. David (Heather) Saffle of Woodsfield, Mrs. Barry (Stacey) West of Jerusalem and Trish Henthorn of the home; three brothers, Wayne Henthorn and Vernon Henthorn, both of Woodsfield, and Jim Henthorn of Lewisville; two sisters, Florence (Jean) Dawson of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Sherry Wilson of Miltonsburg; and two grandsons, Justin and Chase Saffle.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with Minister Keith Jones officiating.

Vera E. (Gibbons) Grey
BARNESVILLE — Vera E. (Gibbons) Grey, 89, of Barnesville, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at Barnesville Hospital.
She was born April 29, 1911, in Belmont, daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Morris) Gibbons.
Mrs. Grey retired from the former Jonathan Logan Clothing Factory of Barnesville and was a member of First Christian Church of Barnesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Virgil” Grey; a daughter, Jean Wilson; a brother, Robert Gibbons; and two sisters, Helen Ford and Esther Lucas.
She leaves a son, Virgil (Sonny) Grey of Bethesda; a daughter, Sheila Hoskinson of Canton; a step-daughter, Irene Cowgill of Barnesville; two sisters, Jean Harris and Auddie Price, both of Barnesville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Edward Eberhart officiating.
Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.
Wilbert L. Watson
Wilbert L. Watson, 90, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at Bell Nursing Home, Kimbolton.
He was born Dec. 17, 1907, in Byesville, son of the late Emmett and Janie (Craft) Watson.
Mr. Watson retired from First National Bank, where he served as a custodian. He also worked at Cambridge Glass Co..
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Watson; his second wife, Virginia Watson; four brothers, Earnest, Alvah, Harvey and Herbert; and a sister, Hazel Hunnell.
He leaves two brothers, Herschel and Floyd Watson, both of Cambridge; three sisters, Florence Hart of Newcomerstown, Bernice Dudley of Byesville and Floetta Lawton of Kimbolton; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.. Friday at Guernsey Memory Gardens with Evangelist Woody Biggs officiating.
