Rev. Karl Fitch

            BETHESDA — The Rev. Karl Milton Fitch, 78, of Bethesda, died
            Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at Crestview Nursing Home, St. Clairsville.

            He was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Bellaire, son of the late Robert and Faye
            (Shallcross) Fitch.

           Rev. Fitch was a retired Methodist minister, having served United
            Methodist churches in Morristown, Bannock and Lloydsville for many
            years.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II, and a
            member of the St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159.

            He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Fitch, and a brother, Glen
            Fitch.

            He leaves his wife of 58 years, Iona (Cummins) Fitch; two daughters,
            Mrs. Charles (Jane) Turvey of East Richland and Mrs. Gary (Mary Ann)
            Silverio of Bellaire; a son, Paul (Sherry) of Bethesda; eight
            grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Robert Dale Fitch of
            Florida and Ralph Fitch of Texas; a sister, Phyllis Kigerl of Bellaire.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
            Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Bethesda.

            Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morristown United Methodist Church,
            with Pastors Vicky Kelley, Rick Burkhardt and Kevin Rinkes officiating.

            Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire.

John Kress

            WOODSFIELD — John Russell Kress, 64, of Woodsfield, died Monday
            (Oct. 30, 2000) at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

            He was born July 31, 1936, in Monroe County, son of the late Bernard
            O. and Mary (Schumacher) Kress.

            Mr. Kress retired from Conalco Corp., Hannibal, and was a member of
            St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield.

            He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 5303,
            Woodsfield. He was an avid sportsman.

            He leaves three sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Kathleen) Wolf of St. Clairsville,
            Mrs. Harry (Mary Margaret) Wolf of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Mrs. Paul
            (Joan) Schneider of Woodsfield; two brothers, Joseph (Phyllis) Kress of
            Allentown, Pa., and Bernard (Evelyn) Kress Jr. of Centerburg; several
            nieces and nephews and also great-nieces and nephews.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bauer-Turner
            Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Vigil services will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday at
            the funeral home.

            Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St.
            Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with the Rev. Father David
            Gaydosik serving as celebrant.

            Burial will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery, Woodsfield.

            Memorial contributions may be made to Bernard and Mary Kress
            Scholarship Fund, St. Sylvester Central School, 119 Wayne St.,
            Woodsfield, OH 43793.

Leo Mahley Jr.

            DUNCAN FALLS — Leo Edward Mahley Jr., 61, of Rural Dale, died
            Monday (Oct. 30, 2000) at his home.

            He was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Jackson County, son of Marcella Mahley
            of Cambridge, and the late Leo H. Mahley Sr.

            Mr. Mahley was a self-employed mechanic.

            He leaves his significant other, Carol Harper of the home; five
            daughters, Brenda Mahley and Leeanene Mahley, both of Florida,
            Wanda Mahley of California, and Teresa Mahley and Tonya Mahley,
            both of Rural Dale; three brothers, Charles (Sue) Mahley, Harry
            (Debbie) Mahley and Joe (Judy) Mahley, all of Cambridge; eight sisters,
            Mrs. Walter (Helen) Caskey of Wooster, Mrs. John (Mary) Koran of
            Byesville, Mrs. William (Eunice) Carlisle of Columbus, Mrs. Walt (Betty)
            Davis of Cambridge, Mrs. Dick (Nancy) Larden of Byesville, Mrs. Ruth
            (Dick) Bishard, Mrs. George (Doris) Grady and Mrs. Larry (Linda)
            Jeffery, all of Cambridge; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
            several nieces and nephews.

            Friends may call from 7 to 8:45 p.m. today at Thompson-Farus Funeral
            Home, Duncan Falls, where services will follow at 8:45 p.m. Pastor
            Steve Bondurant will officiate.

            Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice.

Lawrence Moore

            BARNESVILLE — Lawrence D. Moore, 49, of Quaker City, died Monday
            (Oct. 30, 2000) at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va.

            He was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Barnesville, son of Leslie K. Moore of
            Barnesville, and the late Grace E. (Lashley) Moore.

            Mr. Moore was employed by Gardner Lumber of Tippacanoe. He was a
            Methodist by faith.

            He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Moore and Ada
            Speicher.

            He leaves his wife, Patricia Moore; a son, Randy Moore of Quaker City;
            a daughter, Jody Moore of Barnesville; a step-daughter, Shannon
            Rippeth of Georgia; two granddaughters; four brothers, Charles, William
            and Roger Moore, all of Barnesville, and Mike Moore of Batesville; three
            sisters, Sylvia Hayes of Barnesville, Betty Babe of Carrollton and
            Debbie Ctbulski of Maynard.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
            Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services
            will be 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Al Dudley officiating.

            Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Norma Murrey

            NEW CONCORD — Norma J. Murrey, 70, of New Concord, died
            Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

            She was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Norwich, daughter of the late Vibert O.
            and Marie Darner Bales.

            Mrs. Murrey was a homemaker and a member of New Concord United
            Methodist Church.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Murrey, on Dec.
            11, 1997; and a brother, Robert Bales.

            She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Judy) Johnson of Duluth, Ga.,
            and Mrs. Paul (Lisa) Burkett of Nashport; a son, David Robert (Cheryl)
            Murrey of New Concord; a sister, Alice Beam of Cambridge; a brother,
            Dean Bales of Dresden; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mock-Miller
            Funeral Home, New Concord, where services will be 1 p.m. Friday with
            Pastor Douglas Winner officiating.

            Burial will be in New Concord Cemetery.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
            Association.

Mildred Snider

            CALDWELL — Mildred Josephine Snider, 73, a resident of Summit
            Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, for the past three years, formerly of
            Fulda, died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at the nursing home.

            She was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Fulda, daughter of the late Isadore and
            Emma (Estadt) Snider.

            Miss Snider was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception
            Catholic Church, Fulda, and the church’s Catholic Women’s Club.

            She was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at Summit Acres
            Nursing Home for many years.

            She leaves two sisters, Lillian Snider of Columbus and Marcella Snider
            of Fulda; a brother, Isadore (Dolores) Snider Jr. of Caldwell; three
            nephews, Andrew (Elaine) Snider of Detroit, Mich., Dana (Adrienne)
            Snider of Herndon, Va., and Steven (Teri) Snider of Las Vegas, Nev.;
            two nieces, Jackie Snider of Caldwell and Karen Snider of Cornelius,
            N.C.; six grandnieces and nephews.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McVay-Perkins
            Funeral Home, Caldwell. Christian Scripture services will be 8:30 p.m.
            Thursday at the funeral home.

            Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary
            of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Father
            Samuel Saprano serving as celebrant.

            Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Richard West

            NEW CONCORD — Richard L. West, 56, a resident of the Newark
            Health Care Center, formerly of Norwich, died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000)
            at the center, as a result of injuries following a tornado that struck his
            home March 10, 1986.

            He was born March 14, 1944, in Zanesville, son of the late Mylo D. and
            Martha “Gertrude” (Peck) West.

            Mr. West was a Protestant by faith and a U.S. Army veteran. He was an
            active softball player and a member of the Salt Creek Beagle Club and
            Muskingum Valley Beagle Club.

            He was a self-employed stone mason and worked with Dynamic Drilling
            Co. and T and W Construction Co.

            He leaves his son, Anthony (Kim) West of Zanesville; two sisters, Mrs.
            John (Lucille) McKendry of Norwich and Mrs. Dal (Judy) Wycoff of
            Cambridge; two brothers, James (Sarah) West of Zanesville and
            William (Roberta) West of Satellite Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren,
            Michelle, Nicklas and Chelsey Large; several aunts, uncles, nieces and
            nephews.

            Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mock-Miller
            Funeral Home, New Concord, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday
            with Pastor Jerry Broschart officiating.

            Burial will be in Norwich Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
